Benny Roberts drove in the go-ahead run to give the Waterloo Bucks (15-6) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Waterloo Bucks hung on to beat the Thunder Bay Border Cats (10-11) 3-0 on Thursday.
With the game scoreless in the sixth inning Roberts came to the plate and homered.It was a good day at the plate for the Waterloo Bucks' Roberts. Roberts went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third inning and homered in the sixth inning.
Micah Bryan kept contact to a minimum, striking out seven the Thunder Bay Border Cats batters. The Waterloo Bucks' pitcher tossed five innings of shutout ball and allowed only four hits.
The Thunder Bay Border Cats were led by a flawless day at the dish by Kyle Lombardo, who went 2-2 against the Waterloo Bucks' pitching. He singled in the third and seventh innings.
