The Holyoke Blue Sox seize victory thanks to late single, drop the Danbury Westerners 7-2

The Holyoke Blue Sox (10-15) took the last of four lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against the Danbury Westerners (13-13), securing a 7-2 victory on Sunday at MacKenzie Stadium.

Danny Diekroeger racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Holyoke Blue Sox. He doubled in the eighth inning.

The Holyoke Blue Sox relied on David Speer to eat up innings en route to the win. Speer allowed no earned runs, eight hits and one walk while striking out five over nine innings of work.

Despite the loss, the Danbury Westerners' Isaac Sterman dominated the Holyoke Blue Sox's batters, giving up zero runs and striking out five.

Fred Breidenbach (0-2) took the loss for the Danbury Westerners. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out four.
