Georgetown beats Burlington 5-3 after comeback scareAppleby Arena Sun, Apr 10, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Burlington Cougars tried their best to erase a five-goal deficit, but the Georgetown Raiders would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3. A goal by Brendan Jacome put Georgetown up 5-0 in the second period, but Burlington pulled to within two on Stefano Alonzi's tally 19:46 into the third period. The win by the Raiders clinched the best of seven series at 4-2. Georgetown was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Georgetown additionally got points from Josh Dickinson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Georgetown included Jordan Crocker and Daniel Hardie, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Jake Payette, who had one, Matthew Cairns, who had two, and Zack Dybowski and Jack Jacome, who each chipped in three. The Cougars' offense rang up 51 shots on the Raiders' net. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Burlington also got a goal from Willy Paul as well. In addition, Burlington received assists from Jordan Peacock, Philip Lagunov, Nathan Gomes, and Tyler Riter, who contributed one each. Andrew Masters made 48 saves for Georgetown on 51 shots. The Raiders incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Burlington's starting goalie, Andrew Lee, made 14 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Austin Washkurak, who stopped five shots. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
