Hardie nets hat trick, leads Georgetown to 5-2 win over Burlington

The Burlington Cougars could not stop the Georgetown Raiders' Daniel Hardie, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win.

Hardie's first goal came 7:05 into the second period. He then added goals at 12:33 into the third and at 18:41 into the third.

The win gave Georgetown a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Raiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Burlington to score on any of its three power plays. Georgetown's offense rang up 32 shots on the Cougars' net.

Georgetown additionally got points from Zack Dybowski, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Georgetown also got a goal from Zac Coulter as well. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Andrew Court, who had three and Ryan Takamatsu, Ashur Elliot, Matthew Thom, Austin Cho, and Josh Dickinson, who each chipped in one.

Burlington kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Masters made 29 saves on 31 shots.

The Cougars were helped by Mike Faliero, who finished with one goal. Faliero scored 11:34 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Tyler Riter picked up the assist. Jordan Peacock also scored for Burlington. In addition, Burlington received assists from David Thomson, David Kiss, and Chris Cobham, who contributed one each.

Georgetown incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Burlington's Andrew Lee stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
