Trenton downs Newmarket, 3-0

Duncan Memorial    Sun, Mar 06, 2016

Danny Hanlon grabbed one point to lead the Trenton Golden Hawks to a 3-0 victory over the Newmarket Hurricanes.

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Newmarket faces elimination next time out.

Trenton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hurricanes to score on any of their five power plays.

Trenton also had goals scored by Kevin Lavoie and Jordan Chard, who scored one goal each. More assists for Trenton came via Brandon Marinelli and Mac Lewis, who contributed one each.

Newmarket's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Trenton power plays. The Hurricanes did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 14 saves.

The Golden Hawks' Daniel Urbani stopped 14 shots out of the 14 that he faced. Trenton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Aidan Doak made 20 saves for Newmarket on 23 shots. The Hurricanes incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
