Wellington downs Aurora in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Wellington Dukes' Ben Sokay scored 17:15 into overtime to beat the Aurora Tigers, 6-5 (OT).

The win by Wellington clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

Sokay had four goals to lead the Dukes to victory. Sokay notched his first tally 6:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:04 into the first and at 4:56 into the second.

Wellington forced Aurora goalie Joshua Boyko to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Wellington also got points from Luc Brown, who also registered one goal and two assists. Tyler Burnie also scored for Wellington. In addition, Wellington received assists from Dylan Mascarin, who had four and Carter Allen, Justin Bean, Jacob Hetherington, Jacob Panetta, and Matt Adams, who each chipped in one.

The Tigers forced Dukes' goaltenders to work without much rest, racking up 44 shots and forcing 39 saves. Sam Tanguay made 36 stops and Olivier Lafreniere made three. Aurora's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Tigers were led by Liam Neuman, who finished with two goals and three assists. Neuman scored the first of his two goals short handed at 10:11 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Wellington. Aurora found itself down a man on Nicholas Turenko's head contact. Neuman's next tally short handed made the score 4-3 Aurora with 17:22 left in the second period. Drake Board picked up the assist. Aurora additionally got points from Evan Kearns, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Aurora also had goals scored by Spencer Herbst and Noah Delmas, who each put in one. More assists for Aurora came via Kyle Locke and Nolan Dunn, who contributed one each.

The Dukes incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Boyko rejected 38 shots on goal for the Tigers. Aurora incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
