Lafreniere stymies Aurora, Wellington wins 2-1

Olivier Lafreniere stood on his head and made 42 saves to lead the Wellington Dukes to a 2-1 victory over the Aurora Tigers.

The win gave Wellington a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Dukes were led by Matt Adams, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Adams scored 19:22 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Wellington. Ben Sokay assisted on the tally.

Nicolas Mucci also scored for Wellington. In addition, Wellington received assists from Luc Brown and Tyler Burnie, who each chipped in one.

Aurora's offense rang up 43 shots on Wellington's net.

The Tigers were led by Noah Delmas, who scored the team's only goal. Delmas scored on the power play 11:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A tripping penalty on Jacob Hetherington had put Aurora on the power play. Daniel Mantenuto picked up the assist.

The Dukes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Joshua Boyko rejected 23 shots on goal for the Tigers. Aurora incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
