OJR GV falls apart in second, loses to Unionville GV, 10-2

Unionville GV scored eight goals in the second period to pull away from OJR GV and clinch a 10-2 win.

Unionville GV got the win behind a great game by Lizzy Gaebel, who had two goals and three assists. Gaebel scored the first of his two goals at 1:23 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Unionville GV. Kaelen Speck assisted on the tally. Gaebel's next tally made the score 5-1 Unionville GV with 10:58 left in the second period.

Unionville GV kept OJR GV's goalie busy throughout the game, and Anna Diehl made 39 saves on 49 shots. Unionville GV found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Unionville GV averages 7.9 goals per contest.

Unionville GV also got points from Kaitlyn Anderson, who also registered two goals and two assists, Speck, who also had two goals and two assists, and Jordan Hower, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Unionville GV also got a goal from Claire Donovan as well. In addition, Unionville GV received assists from Sierra Dycio, who had two and Allie Ward and Madison Miles, who each chipped in one.

OJR GV managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. OJR GV ended up below its season average of 3.0 penalty minutes per game. OJR GV did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting five shots on net to force three saves.

Others who scored for OJR GV included Ava Rinker and Katie Erb, who scored one goal each. More assists for OJR GV came via Kelsey Showers, who had one.

McKenzie Myers made three saves for Unionville GV on five shots. Unionville GV incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. OJR GV registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
