Springford JV wins tough contest against OJR JV, 5-3

The game between Springford JV and OJR JV was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Springford JV emerged with a 5-3 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Andrew Fuhrman's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Thomas Freed was all over the ice for Springford JV, as he racked up two goals in the win. Freed's tallies came at 4:34 into the second period to make the score 3-2 OJR JV and 3:33 into the third to make the score 5-3 Springford JV.

OJR JV's power play was ineffective against Springford JV's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Springford JV was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game Springford JV had been spending in the box. Springford JV was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Springford JV additionally got points from Fuhrman, who also had one goal and one assist and Ryan Schaeffer, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Bradley Heininger also scored for Springford JV. OJR JV was helped by Jacob Vitullo, who registered one goal. Vitullo scored on the power play 4:16 into the second period to make the score 3-1 OJR JV. OJR JV had gotten the advantage when Springford JV's Temoyan was sent off for hooking. OJR JV also had goals scored by Gordie Delano and Ed Keegan, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for OJR JV were Austin Mourar, Timmy Diechert, and Tony Sheay, who contributed one each.

Matthew Magee rejected 24 shots on goal for Springford JV. Springford JV ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Freed was ejected from the game. Zach Shepker recorded 21 saves for OJR JV. OJR JV ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For OJR JV, Conner Patania was ejected from the game.
