Downingtown East JV White beats PV-VFMA 6-5 after comeback scare

Downingtown East JV White survived a determined comeback attempt by PV-VFMA on the way to a 6-5 win.

Downingtown East JV White made the score 6-3 on a goal by Zachary Haberman at 11:20 in the second period, and PV-VFMA got as close as 6-5 when Braden Harmon scored 14:20 into the third period.

Downingtown East JV White put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow PV-VFMA to score on any of its three power plays. Downingtown East JV White forced PV-VFMA goalie Hunter Thomas to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. The defensemen of Downingtown East JV White were also effective in PV-VFMA's zone, and came away with four goals.

Downingtown East JV White also got points from Kostas Kourahanis, who also registered one goal and two assists and Jordan Guistwhite, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Damian Fabrizio also scored for Downingtown East JV White. Other players who recorded assists for Downingtown East JV White were Alexa Weiderhold, Ethan Clay, Sean Marcus, and Cole Saddic, who each chipped in one.

PV-VFMA managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. PV-VFMA wound up below its season average of 10.0 penalty minutes per game. PV-VFMA surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, PV-VFMA averages 1.7 goal per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

PV-VFMA was led by Elias Jesus, who finished with two goals and one assist. Jesus scored the first of his two goals at 9:39 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Downingtown East JV White. Rob Farrington provided the assist. Jesus' next tally made the score 6-4 Downingtown East JV White with 18:20 left in the third period. Others who scored for PV-VFMA included Oliver Duffey and Stephen Ragusa, who each put in one. In addition, PV-VFMA received assists from Adam Lewis and Michael DAngelo, who contributed one each.

Christina Bober made 10 saves for Downingtown East JV White on 15 shots. Downingtown East JV White incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Thomas rejected 39 shots on goal for PV-VFMA.
