AB Carroll JV outlasts OJR JV, 5-3

The game between AB Carroll JV and OJR JV was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end AB Carroll JV emerged with a 5-3 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Ian McHugh's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

OJR JV's power play was ineffective against AB Carroll JV's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

AB Carroll JV was led by McHugh, who racked up one goal. McHugh scored 6:59 into the second period to make the score 4-3 AB Carroll JV.

AB Carroll JV could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

AB Carroll JV also got points from Robert Batten, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. AB Carroll JV also had goals scored by Jason Zambella, Harrison Lownes, and Dell Jenson, who each put in one. More assists for AB Carroll JV came via Ian Myers, who had one.

OJR JV put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow AB Carroll JV to score on any of its four power plays. OJR JV's offense operated below its season average. OJR JV averages 5.6 goals per game.

OJR JV was helped by PJ Sullivan, who finished with one goal. Sullivan scored 17 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Tony Sheay provided the assist. Others who scored for OJR JV included Max Tornetta and James Donnelly, who scored one goal each. In addition, OJR JV received assists from Ed Keegan and Austin Mourar, who each chipped in one.

Chris Waldmann rejected 21 shots on goal for AB Carroll JV. OJR JV's Anna Diehl stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. OJR JV incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
