Downingtown East JV Blue survives penalties, beats Downingtown West JV, 3-0

Downingtown West JV failed to take advantage of its power play opportunities and Downingtown East JV Blue shook off a number of penalties to win, 3-0.

Downingtown East JV Blue was led by Kostas Kourahanis, who tallied one goal. Kourahanis scored 5:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Downingtown East JV Blue. Zachary Haberman picked up the assist.

Downingtown East JV Blue's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Downingtown West JV power plays. Downingtown East JV Blue was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. Downingtown East JV Blue allows 2.1 goals per game. Downingtown East JV Blue forced Downingtown West JV goalie Justin Kiefel to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Downingtown East JV Blue also had goals scored by Patrick Sterritt and Luke Gilpin, who scored one goal each.

Downingtown West JV managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Downingtown West JV wound up below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game. Downingtown West JV did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season.
