Conestoga GV survives Avon Grove GV comeback, wins 6-5

Avon Grove GV tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Conestoga GV would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-5.

A goal by Michaela Caldwell put Conestoga GV up 5-2 in the second period, but Avon Grove GV pulled to within one on Kirsten Vetland's tally 12:25 into the third period.

Caldwell had five goals and one assist to lead Conestoga GV. Caldwell's first goal came 4:49 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:34 into the first, at 6:14 into the second, and at 9:55 into the second.

Conestoga GV found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Conestoga GV averages 2.9 goals per game. Conestoga GV did not rack up many penalties in the contest, racking up only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Conestoga GV also got a goal from Sarah Brock as well. In addition, Conestoga GV received assists from Maddie Oliver, who had two.

Avon Grove GV surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, Avon Grove GV averages 2.1 goals per contest. Avon Grove GV's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Avon Grove GV was led by Gabby Manocchio, who grabbed three goals. More assists for Avon Grove GV came via Annabelle Quaile and Teresa Quaile, who each chipped in one.

Conestoga GV's Brock stopped 22 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Conestoga GV registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Kaitlin ONeil rejected 10 shots on goal for Avon Grove GV. Avon Grove GV incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities.
