Madison Capitols 18U survives St. Louis Selects 18U comeback, wins 4-3

St. Louis Selects 18U tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Madison Capitols 18U held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Alec Semandel put Madison Capitols 18U up 3-0 in the second period, but St. Louis Selects 18U pulled to within one on Joey Rosa's tally 9:20 into the third period.

Madison Capitols 18U was led by Nick Hames, who had one goal. Hames scored on the power play 13:23 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Madison Capitols 18U. Madison Capitols 18U earned a power play opportunity when Michael Schrader was put in the box for hooking. Semandel picked up the assist.

Madison Capitols 18U forced St. Louis Selects 18U goalie John Massara to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The defensemen of Madison Capitols 18U were also effective in St. Louis Selects 18U's zone, and came away with two goals.

Madison Capitols 18U additionally got points from Semandel, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Konur Peterson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Mikey Butcher also scored for Madison Capitols 18U. Other players who recorded assists for Madison Capitols 18U were Mick Messner, who had two and Jules Vigy, Kevin Ford, Jakob Hanthorn, and Anthony Callin, who each chipped in one.
