Pursuit of Excellence 18U squeaks by Wenatchee Wolves 18U, 4-2

Pursuit of Excellence 18U gutted out a close 4-2 win against Wenatchee Wolves 18U.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Brett Piper's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Piper had a great game for Pursuit of Excellence 18U, netting two goals.

Pursuit of Excellence 18U also had goals scored by Sami Pharaon and Adam Kusior, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pursuit of Excellence 18U received assists from Cassidy Bowes, Juanre Naude, Matthew Kopperud, Ryan Butler, and Ty Pochipinski, who each chipped in one.

Wenatchee Wolves 18U excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances.

Wenatchee Wolves 18U was helped by Richie Stickle, who had two goals. Stickle scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:57 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Pursuit of Excellence 18U. Wenatchee Wolves 18U had gained a power play chance when Lucas Wong was whistled for hooking. Thomas Hendry provided the assist. Stickle's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 16:19 left in the third period. Max Roth assisted on the tally. More assists for Wenatchee Wolves 18U came via Anders Johnson, who had one.

Jordan Wilde rejected 20 shots on goal for Pursuit of Excellence 18U. Pursuit of Excellence 18U incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Max Flynn made 25 saves for Wenatchee Wolves 18U on 28 shots. Wenatchee Wolves 18U incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
