Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Chicago Mission 18U defeated Compuware 18U in a shootout 5-4.

The shootout lasted for nine attempts between the teams. Compuware 18U's shootout goal was scored by Jhuwon Davis. Chicago Mission 18U also got a shootout goal from Lance Herning.

Chicago Mission 18U overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Chicago Mission 18U was down 2-0 after a goal by Compuware 18U's Austin Neirynck at 6:15 in the first period. Chicago Mission 18U tied things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Matthew Barry at 8:01 in the third period.

Chicago Mission 18U also had goals scored by Thomas Cahill, Griffin Neault, and Allan Hirsch, who scored one goal each. More assists for Chicago Mission 18U came via Max Cavallini, who had one and William Petersen, who had two.

Compuware 18U was helped by Matt Medonis, who racked up two goals. Medonis scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Compuware 18U. Compuware 18U had gained a power play chance when Brendan Aird was whistled for roughing. Medonis' next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Compuware 18U with 15:40 left in the third period. Davis provided the assist. Compuware 18U also got points from Zach Shapiro, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Compuware 18U received assists from Avery Hill, who had one.
