Compuware 18U uses shootout to best Team Illinois 18U, 2-1

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Compuware 18U defeated Team Illinois 18U in a shootout 2-1.

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Team Illinois 18U got a shootout goal from Max Finner. In addition to the clincher, Compuware 18U got a shootout goal from Zach Shapiro.

Team Illinois 18U was stymied by Compuware 18U's netminder Tyler Copp, who stopped 33 shots during the victory. Despite the solid performance, Copp will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.18 entering the contest.

Compuware 18U's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Team Illinois 18U power plays.

Compuware 18U was led by Austin Morgan, who had one goal. Morgan scored on the power play 9:50 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Compuware 18U. A slashing penalty on Brett Crook had put Compuware 18U on the power play. James Sotiroff assisted on the tally. In addition, Compuware 18U received assists from Christopher Trouba, who had one.

Team Illinois 18U's offense rang up 34 shots on Compuware 18U's net.

Team Illinois 18U was led by Callahan Lavery, who scored the team's only goal. Lavery scored 11:55 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Jonathan Lakhani picked up the assist.

Compuware 18U incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Bryan Tierney made 25 saves for Team Illinois 18U on 26 shots. Team Illinois 18U incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
