Trenton rolls over Kingston, 4-1

The Trenton Golden Hawks were firing on all cylinders against the Kingston Voyageurs, and when the final buzzer sounded Golden Hawks emerged with a 4-1 win.

The win by Trenton broke a deadlock and gave the Golden Hawks a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Trenton was led by goalie Justin Kapelmaster, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. Kapelmaster certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.52 entering the contest.

The Golden Hawks were paced by Michael Siddall, who registered one goal and one assist. Siddall scored on the power play 16:17 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Trenton. Trenton had gotten the advantage when Kingston's Adam Brady was sent off for high sticking. Kevin Lavoie assisted on the tally.

The Golden Hawks forced the Voyageurs goalie Daniel Urbani to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Trenton also got points from Tyler Donaldson, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Braden Hellems, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Trenton included Christian DiFelice and Brady Wiffen, who each put in one. In addition, Trenton received assists from Liam Morgan and Danny Liscio, who each chipped in one.

Trenton was unable to stop Kingston from sending pucks towards the net, and the Voyageurs eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Alex Tonge and Alex Stothart, who contributed one each.

The Golden Hawks totaled 59 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Trenton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hunter Fargey was ejected from the game. Daniel Urbani made 37 saves for Kingston on 40 shots. The Voyageurs totaled 86 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Kingston, Ryan Watson and Joey Rutkowski were ejected from the contest.
