Cobourg blows out Trenton, 5-2

The Trenton Golden Hawks had trouble finding ways to stop the Cobourg Cougars, which beat Golden Hawks, 5-2.

With the win, Cobourg avoided elimination to make the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series.

The Cougars kept Trenton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Justin Kapelmaster made 37 saves on 42 shots.

Cobourg was helped by Cole Langan, who finished with one goal and one assist. Langan scored 15:16 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cobourg. Mitchell Gibson picked up the assist. Cobourg also got points from Liam Grande, who also registered one goal and one assist, Gibson, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Connor Armour, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Theo Lewis also scored for Cobourg. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Riley Stillman, who had one and Matt Carroll, who had two.

The Cougars were unable to stop the Golden Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Trenton eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Golden Hawks were helped by Hunter Fargey, who had one goal. Fargey scored 17:45 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Cobourg. Matt Pizzo assisted on the tally. Trenton also got a goal from Chrisitian Lloyd as well. More assists for Trenton came via Zach de Concilys, who had one.

Stefano Durante rejected 30 shots on goal for Cobourg. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Cobourg ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Rylee McKinnon was ejected from the game. Trenton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
