Trenton boosted by Kapelmaster's play in net, beats Cobourg 2-1Duncan Memorial Tue, Mar 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Justin Kapelmaster helped the Trenton Golden Hawks defeat the Cobourg Cougars, 2-1. After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Cobourg faces elimination next time out. The Cougars' power play was ineffective against Trenton's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Golden Hawks were paced by Michael Siddall, who tallied one goal. Siddall scored 18:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Trenton. Hunter Fargey picked up the assist. Matt Pizzo also scored for Trenton. More assists for Trenton came via Chrisitian Lloyd, who had one and Tyler Donaldson, who had two. Cobourg excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Cougars were led by Liam Grande, who scored the team's only goal. Grande scored on the power play 3:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Cobourg had gotten the advantage when Trenton's Blayne Oliver was sent off for tripping. Matt Watson assisted on the tally. Kapelmaster recorded 28 saves for the Golden Hawks. Trenton incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Cougars' Stefano Durante stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Cobourg incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
