A four-goal first period deficit cost the Cobourg Cougars, which could not recover and fell to the Trenton Golden Hawks, 7-2. The win gave Trenton a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series. Brady Wiffen was all over the ice for the Golden Hawks, as he tallied four goals and one assist in the win. Wiffen notched his first tally 3:57 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:46 into the first, at 13:26 into the first, and at 13:00 into the second. Trenton's penalty kill excelled, as the Golden Hawks gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. Trenton stifled Cobourg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Golden Hawks' offense rang up 42 shots on the Cougars' net. Trenton additionally got points from Kevin Lavoie, who also registered one goal and one assist, Tyler Donaldson, who also had one goal and one assist, and Danny Liscio, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Matt Pizzo, who had two, Zach de Concilys, who had three, and Chrisitian Lloyd and Braden Hellems, who each chipped in one. Justin Kapelmaster rejected 28 shots on goal for Trenton. The Golden Hawks totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 3-for-11 on the power play. Trenton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Loren Ulett was ejected from the game. Stefano Durante made 35 saves for Cobourg on 42 shots. The Cougars incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
