Toronto Patriots beats Oakville 3-1 after comeback scare

The Toronto Patriots Patriots survived a determined comeback attempt by the Oakville Blades on the way to a 3-1 win.

A goal by Jeremy Pullara put Toronto Patriots up 3-0 in the second period, but Oakville pulled to within two on Ryan Garvey's tally 19:03 into the third period.

The win by the Patriots broke a deadlock and gave Toronto Patriots a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

The Patriots were led by goalie Mathew Robson, who finished with 35 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Robson will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.92 entering the contest.

Toronto Patriots stifled the Blades' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Patriots kept Oakville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Mannella made 29 saves on 32 shots.

Toronto Patriots was helped by Jacob Hayhurst, who finished with one goal. Hayhurst scored 10:31 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Toronto Patriots. Pullara assisted on the tally. Toronto Patriots also got points from Pullara, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Toronto Patriots also got a goal from Nico Gonzalez as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Patriots were Niko Kovachis and Quinn Syrydiuk, who contributed one each.

The Patriots were unable to stop the Blades from sending pucks towards the net, and Oakville eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

In addition, Oakville received assists from Christian Rajic and Tyler Rollo, who each chipped in one.

Toronto Patriots incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. The Blades incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
