Kingston holds on for 7-6 win against AuroraINVISTA Center Thu, Mar 19, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kingston Voyageurs survived a determined comeback attempt by the Aurora Tigers on the way to a 7-6 win. A goal by Alex Tonge put Kingston up 7-5 in the third period, but Aurora pulled to within one on Eric Williams's tally 5:35 into the third period. With the win, the Voyageurs avoided elimination to make the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series. Kingston capitalized on the Tigers' penalties, netting four goals while skating with a man advantage. Kingston also got points from Cole Bolton, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Alex Stothart, who also registered two goals and two assists. Spencer Green also scored for Kingston. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Joey Beaudoin, who had one and Ryan Watson and Adam Brady, who each chipped in two. Aurora kept the Voyageurs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Penta made 50 saves on 56 shots. The Tigers were helped by Michael Laidley, who racked up two goals. Laidley scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. Aurora had gained a power play chance when Rory McGuire was whistled for roughing. Mack Lemmon assisted on the tally. Laidley's next tally on the power play made the score 5-5 with 3:10 left in the second period. The Tigers had taken the advantage when Kingston's McGuire got sent off for interference. Noah Delmas picked up the assist. Aurora additionally got points from Johnny Curran, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Vince Figliomeni, who also had one goal and one assist. Aurora also got a goal from Cameron Morrison as well. More assists for Aurora came via Drake Board, who had one and Sam Quaranta, who had two. The Voyageurs incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Aurora took out Andy Munroe after he had made 14 saves and installed Marcus Semiao in goal, where he finished with two saves and the loss. The Tigers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
