Kingston beats Stouffville 8-2 as Bolton gets hat trick

Cole Bolton lifted the Kingston Voyageurs to an 8-2 victory with a hat trick against the Stouffville Spirit.

Bolton's first goal came 13:13 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:12 into the second and at 6:47 into the second.

The win gave Kingston a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Voyageurs forced Spirit's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 38 shots and forcing 30 saves. Aaron Taylor made 22 stops and Conor McCollum made eight. Kingston put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Stouffville to score on any of its four power plays.

Kingston also had goals scored by Alex Tonge, who had three and Ryan Watson and Colin Tonge, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Kingston were Adam Moodie, Joey Rutkowski, Reid Russell, Daniel Urbani, and Rory McGuire, who contributed one each and Joey Beaudoin, Adam Brady, Alex Stothart, and Spencer Green, who each chipped in two.

The Spirit were helped by John Jon Loncaric, who had one goal. Loncaric scored 2:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kingston. Michael Giacometti picked up the assist. Stouffville also got a goal from Joseph Deveny as well. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Tyson Bruce, who had one and Nathan Hudgin, who had two.

Urbani recorded 19 saves for the Voyageurs. Kingston incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Stouffville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
