Polachek nets hat trick, leads Trenton to 6-4 win over Wellington

A hat trick by Bobby Polachek was the highlight in Golden Hawks' 6-4 win against the Wellington Dukes.

Polachek's first goal came 13:44 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:27 into the third and at 16:35 into the third.

The win gave the Trenton Golden Hawks a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Trenton's penalty kill excelled, as the Golden Hawks gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Trenton stifled Wellington's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dukes were unable to stop the Golden Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Trenton eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Trenton additionally got points from Kevin Lavoie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Trenton also had goals scored by Tyler Donaldson and Danny Liscio, who scored one goal each. More assists for Trenton came via Loren Ulett, Michael Siddall, Braedyn Asselstine, Matt Pizzo, Luke Hincenbergs, and Braden Hellems, who contributed one each and Christian DiFelice and Hunter Fargey, who each chipped in two.

Wellington's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Trenton power plays.

The Dukes were helped by Ben Sokay, who racked up one goal. Sokay scored 1:15 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jacob Panetta provided the assist. Wellington also got points from Panetta, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Wellington included Abbott Girduckis and Wes St Amand, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Will Cook, Conner Judson, Griffin McCarty, Nick Devito, and Olivier Lafreniere, who contributed one each.

The Golden Hawks' Justin Kapelmaster stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Trenton incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Lafreniere rejected 28 shots on goal for Wellington. The Dukes ended with 43 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major. For Wellington, Andrew Coupland was ejected from the game.
