Morrison's hat trick boosts Aurora over Newmarket, 7-3Aurora Community Centre Fri, Mar 06, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Cameron Morrison lifted the Aurora Tigers to a 7-3 victory with a hat trick against the Newmarket Hurricanes. Morrison notched his first tally 6:17 into the second period. He then added goals at 8:28 into the second and at 13:51 into the third.The win by Aurora clinched the best of seven series at 4-1. The Tigers forced Newmarket's netminders to work all game long, ripping 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Connor Ryckman made 14 stops and Tyler Richardson made 20. Aurora stifled the Hurricanes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Aurora additionally got points from Nicholas Erb, who also had one goal and one assist. Johnny Curran also scored for Aurora. In addition, Aurora received assists from Taylor Joseph, who had one, Noah Delmas, who had three, and Vince Figliomeni, Eric Williams, and Sam Quaranta, who contributed two each. Newmarket struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Tigers to score two power play goals on three chances. The Hurricanes were helped by Sam Hu, who registered two goals. Hu scored the first of his two goals at 2:59 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jonathan Colley assisted on the tally. Hu's next tally made the score 4-3 Aurora with 12:38 left in the second period. Newmarket also got points from Colley, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Newmarket came via Nick Boddy, Ryan McReynolds, and Justin Wain, who each chipped in one. Andy Munroe rejected 14 shots on goal for Aurora. The Tigers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Newmarket incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
