Newmarket boosted by Ryckman's play in net, beats Aurora 2-1Aurora Community Centre Fri, Feb 27, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Connor Ryckman had a standout game with 39 saves, and the Newmarket Hurricanes beat the Aurora Tigers 2-1. With the win, Newmarket evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown. The Hurricanes were paced by Dallas Baird, who registered one goal. Baird scored on the power play 13:08 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Newmarket. Newmarket had gotten the advantage when Aurora's Vince Figliomeni was sent off for tripping. Anthony Salemi picked up the assist. The Hurricanes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Newmarket also got a goal from Jonathan Colley as well. More assists for Newmarket came via Adam Smith, Sam Hu, and Christian Dedonato, who each chipped in one. The Tigers' offense rang up 40 shots on Newmarket's net. Aurora was led by Johnny Curran, who scored the team's only goal. Curran scored 19:27 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. Sam Quaranta assisted on the tally. The Hurricanes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Andy Munroe recorded 24 saves for the Tigers. Aurora incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
