Aurora erases deficit to stun Newmarket, 3-2

The Aurora Tigers climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Newmarket Hurricanes, 3-2.

Aurora never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Tigers was down 2-0 after a power play goal by Newmarket's Jacob Piltzmaker at 9:45 in the second period. Aurora knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Drake Board at 1:55 in the third period. The Tigers netted the game winner at 16:56 in the third period on a goal by Board.

The win gave Aurora a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Tigers were sparked by Daniel Mantenuto, who tallied one goal.

Aurora forced the Hurricanes goalie Connor Ryckman to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Aurora additionally got points from Taylor Joseph, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Aurora came via Callum Fryer, Noah Delmas, Vince Figliomeni, Eric Williams, and Cameron Morrison, who each chipped in one.

The defensemen of Newmarket were also effective in the Tigers' zone, and came away with two goals.

Newmarket also got a goal from Christian Dedonato as well. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Mitchell Duggan, Curtis Harvey, Sam Hu, and Cameron Nicoll, who contributed one each.

Andy Munroe made 23 saves for Aurora on 25 shots. The Tigers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Aurora ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Locke was ejected from the game. Ryckman recorded 29 saves for the Hurricanes. Newmarket incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
