Oakville squeaks by Orangeville, 4-3Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Mon, Mar 09, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Oakville Blades gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Orangeville Flyers. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Ryan Garvey secured the win for Oakville with a goal in the third period. With the win, the Blades avoided elimination to make the series score 3-4 in the best of seven series. Oakville pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes. The Blades were led by Garvey, who registered one goal and one assist. Garvey scored 19:51 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Oakville. Jackson Bales picked up the assist. Oakville's offense rang up 36 shots on Orangeville's net. Oakville additionally got points from Bales, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Oakville also had goals scored by Brandon Hughes and Josh Kosack, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Tanner Shaw, Matthew McLeod, and Greg Campbell, who contributed one each. The Flyers were helped by Darren Nesbitt, who had one goal. Nesbitt scored 5:01 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Ethan Wiseman provided the assist. Others who scored for Orangeville included Colin Rigney and Ian Nichols, who each put in one. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Connor Stack, Ryan DaSilva, James McLaughlin, and Devon Gillham, who each chipped in one. Daniel Mannella made 26 saves for the Blades on 29 shots. Oakville registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Wyatt Pickrell rejected 32 shots on goal for Orangeville. The Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
