Toronto Jr. Canadiens survives North York comeback, wins 3-2

The Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens survived a determined comeback attempt by the North York Rangers on the way to a 3-2 win.

A goal by Nicholas Jarzabek put Toronto Jr. Canadiens up 3-1 in the second period, but North York pulled to within one on Matthew Whittaker's tally 7:14 into the third period.

The win by the Junior Canadiens clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens was led by Jarzabek, who registered one goal and one assist. Jarzabek scored 16:36 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Justin Maiolino assisted on the tally.

The Junior Canadiens excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Toronto Jr. Canadiens forced the Rangers goalie Gianluca Baggetta to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens additionally got points from Maiolino, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Aaron Spivak also scored for Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Jr. Canadiens were Matthew Ferrari, who had one and Anthony Repaci, who had two.

North York also got a goal from Nick Zanette as well. In addition, North York received assists from Zachary Fung, Kyle Cochrane, Max Novick, and Luke Kutkevicius, who each chipped in one.

Daniel Lopapa rejected 24 shots on goal for the Junior Canadiens. Toronto Jr. Canadiens incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Gianluca Baggetta made 31 saves for North York on 34 shots.
