Toronto Jr. Canadiens survives North York comeback, wins 6-5

The North York Rangers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens held on for a 6-5 victory.

A goal by Lucas Chiodo put Toronto Jr. Canadiens up 6-3 in the third period, but North York pulled to within one on Ryan Takamatsu's tally 14:20 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, the Rangers face elimination next time out.

Anthony Repaci had two goals and two assists to lead the Junior Canadiens. Repaci scored the first of his two goals at 1:07 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Luca Farrace provided the assist. Repaci's next tally made the score 5-3 Toronto Jr. Canadiens with 56 seconds left in the second period. Cody Symonds picked up the assist.

North York was unable to stop Toronto Jr. Canadiens from sending pucks towards the net, and the Junior Canadiens eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Toronto Jr. Canadiens included Anthony Trujillo and Nicholas Jarzabek, who each put in one. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Matthew Ferrari, who had two and Kennedy Duguid, Andrew Mullen, Adam DeLuca, Kevin Hancock, and Justin Maiolino, who contributed one each.

The Rangers forced Toronto Jr. Canadiens' goaltenders to work all game long, launching 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Daniel Lopapa made 21 stops and Nathan Colitto made five.

North York also got points from Gabriel Valenzuela, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Michael Morgan, who also registered one goal and one assist. North York also got a goal from Kyle Clarke as well. More assists for North York came via Zachary Fung, who had three and Ted Hunt, Kyle Cochrane, and Nick Zanette, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Canadiens incurred 34 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Gianluca Baggetta rejected 36 shots on goal for North York. The Rangers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
