Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 14U uses shootout to best Texas Jr. Brahmas 14U, 4-3

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 14U defeated Texas Jr. Brahmas 14U in a shootout 4-3.

The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. Texas Jr. Brahmas 14U's shootout goal was scored by Alex Carbone. Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 14U also got a shootout goal from Nathan Mutschelknaus.

Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 14U was helped by Dawsyn Wirkus, who finished with one goal. Wirkus scored on the power play 11:07 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 14U. Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 14U had gained a power play chance when Newman Magness was whistled for cross checking. Jake Jarman assisted on the tally. Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 14U also had goals scored by Jack Olson and Joe Bertolini, who each put in one. In addition, Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 14U received assists from Tucker Hohn, Nathan Mohr, and Spencer Wedin, who contributed one each.

Texas Jr. Brahmas 14U was helped by RJ Muckensturm, who grabbed one goal. Muckensturm scored 15:23 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Matthew Phillips picked up the assist. Texas Jr. Brahmas 14U also got points from Phillips, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Casey Pritchett also scored for Texas Jr. Brahmas 14U. More assists for Texas Jr. Brahmas 14U came via Matthew Munro and Austin Perdue, who each chipped in one.

Brody Herrick recorded 18 saves for Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 14U. Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede 14U incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Texas Jr. Brahmas 14U's Michael Sheridan stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Texas Jr. Brahmas 14U incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
