Springfield Express beats Tulsa Jr. Oilers 10-3 as Cook gets hat trick

Josh Cook netted a hat trick to lead Springfield Express over Tulsa Jr. Oilers, 10-3.

Cook's first goal came 2:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:05 into the second and at 11:50 into the third.

Springfield Express forced Tulsa Jr. Oilers' goalies to work without much rest, firing 45 shots and forcing 35 saves. Colter Pritchard made 25 stops and Teke Murphy made 10. Springfield Express surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Springfield Express averages 4.1 goals per game. Springfield Express cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances. Springfield Express got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Springfield Express additionally got points from Alexander Lobachev, who also tallied two goals and two assists and Linus Dahlberg, who also registered two goals and two assists. Springfield Express also got a goal from Cameron Mikkelsen as well. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield Express were Colby Houston, who had two, Vito DeVito, who had four, Per Eriksson, Mike Heverly, and Gabe Regan, who contributed one each, and Austin Purdy and Jacob Steiner, who each chipped in three.

Tulsa Jr. Oilers was helped by Andrew Wyrrick, who racked up one goal and one assist. Wyrrick scored 7:49 into the third period to make the score 8-2 Springfield Express. Leonid Anikin provided the assist. Tulsa Jr. Oilers also got points from Anikin, who also had one goal and one assist. Taner Byrd also scored for Tulsa Jr. Oilers. More assists for Tulsa Jr. Oilers came via Jason Small, Hunter Best, and John Stenzel, who contributed one each.

Brandon Smith made 10 saves before being replaced by Oliver Eklund, who took the win and made 10 saves. Springfield Express incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tulsa Jr. Oilers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
