Early goals doom Las Vegas Storm, falls to Fresno Monsters, 14-1

Fresno Monsters opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 14-1 win over Las Vegas Storm.

Fresno Monsters' offense was sparked by Mike Nolan, as he ended with seven assists in a victory against Las Vegas Storm.

Fresno Monsters' penalty kill excelled, as Fresno Monsters gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Fresno Monsters forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and three majors for 51 minutes in penalty time. Fresno Monsters surpassed its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game. Fresno Monsters forced Las Vegas Storm's netminders to work all game long, ripping 63 shots and forcing 49 saves. Jaedon McConnell made 35 stops and Brian Coppola made 14. Fresno Monsters found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Fresno Monsters averages 6.5 goals per game. Fresno Monsters cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances. Fresno Monsters got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Fresno Monsters also got points from Dan Fitzgerald, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Jacob Haynes, who also tallied two goals and two assists, Evan Ingram, who also registered three goals and one assist, Kyle Jelinski, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Owen Sikich, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Conner Osborne, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Fresno Monsters included Conner Hyden, who had two and Mark Shroyer and Konner Gallagher, who each put in one. In addition, Fresno Monsters received assists from Daniel Goodwin, who had one, Gianmarco Guidon, who had four, and Michael Freeman and Austin Browning, who each chipped in three.

Las Vegas Storm racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and three majors for 85 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game Las Vegas Storm had been spending in the box. Las Vegas Storm could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Las Vegas Storm puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game.

Las Vegas Storm was led by Nathan Fournier, who scored the team's only goal. Fournier scored on the power play 2:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Las Vegas Storm. Las Vegas Storm had gained a power play chance when Mitchell Dolman was whistled for interference. Arrigo Burgener provided the assist.

Fresno Monsters' Nathan Churchill stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Team's Braxton Davis and Nikita Larionov were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
