Wichita Jr. Thunder beats Tulsa Jr. Oilers 16-2 as Cicmanec gets hat trick

Peter Cicmanec netted a hat trick to lead Wichita Jr. Thunder over Tulsa Jr. Oilers, 16-2.

Cicmanec's first goal came 9:26 into the second period. He then added goals at 19:25 into the second and at 1:46 into the third.

Wichita Jr. Thunder forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and three majors for 29 minutes in penalty time. Wichita Jr. Thunder surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Wichita Jr. Thunder put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Tulsa Jr. Oilers to score on any of its four power plays. Wichita Jr. Thunder's offense rang up 49 shots on Tulsa Jr. Oilers' net. Wichita Jr. Thunder's goal total was higher than its season average. Wichita Jr. Thunder averages 3.8 goals per game. Wichita Jr. Thunder's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Wichita Jr. Thunder also got points from Patrik Janac, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Artis Mucenieks, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Joel Johnson, who also had one goal and two assists, Ivan Brvenik, who also registered two goals and four assists, and Matt McClelland, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Wichita Jr. Thunder came via Tyler Larson, who had three, Matej Porzer, Joel Gellvear, Peter Ivicic, Chance Aquino, and Jake Larson, who contributed one each, and John Pierce, Zach Balodis, and Jack McClelland, who each chipped in two.

Tulsa Jr. Oilers was often in penalty trouble, totaling four minors and four majors for 38 minutes in penalty time. Tulsa Jr. Oilers had been averaging 18.0 minutes in penalties per game. Tulsa Jr. Oilers struggled on the penalty kill, allowing Wichita Jr. Thunder to score three power play goals on three chances.

Tulsa Jr. Oilers was helped by Branden Reimann, who grabbed one goal. Reimann scored 10:37 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tulsa Jr. Oilers also got a goal from Casey Neel as well. In addition, Tulsa Jr. Oilers received assists from Leonid Anikin and Andrew Wyrrick, who contributed one each.

Wichita Jr. Thunder's Larson stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Richard Albrecht recorded 33 saves for Tulsa Jr. Oilers.
