Fresno Monsters rides Piquette to victory over Ontario Avalanche, 6-1

Austin Piquette stood on his head and made 26 saves to lead Fresno Monsters to a 6-1 victory over Ontario Avalanche.

Fresno Monsters' penalty kill excelled, as Fresno Monsters gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Fresno Monsters was sparked by Austin Browning, who had one goal. Browning scored on the power play 7:50 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Fresno Monsters. Fresno Monsters had gotten the advantage when Ontario Avalanche's Jonathan Stuxberg was sent off for roughing. Owen Sikich provided the assist.

Fresno Monsters forced Ontario Avalanche's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 56 shots and forcing 50 saves. Daniel Cepila made 29 stops and Chris Skeates made 21. Fresno Monsters was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 34 penalty minutes.

Others who scored for Fresno Monsters included Conner Hyden, who had two and Dan Fitzgerald, Corey Munro, and Conner Osborne, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Fresno Monsters were Carter Dahl, Michael Freeman, and Konner Gallagher, who each chipped in one and Mike Nolan, Evan Ingram, and Gianmarco Guidon, who contributed two each.

Ontario Avalanche racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 12 minors and one major for 59 minutes in penalty time. Ontario Avalanche surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Ontario Avalanche was held below its usual level of production. Ontario Avalanche was led by Zechariah Roberts, who scored the team's only goal. Roberts scored on the power play 9:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ontario Avalanche.
