Missoula Maulers rips Lake Tahoe Blue, 7-1

Missoula Maulers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over Lake Tahoe Blue.

Missoula Maulers was led by goalie Aron Holmgren, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Holmgren certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.42 entering the contest.

Edward Pollon had a great game for Missoula Maulers, netting two goals. Pollon's tallies came at 13:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Missoula Maulers and 19:08 into the second to make the score 4-1 Missoula Maulers.

Missoula Maulers stifled Lake Tahoe Blue's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lake Tahoe Blue was unable to stop Missoula Maulers from sending pucks towards the net, and Missoula Maulers eventually piled up 56 shots on goal. Missoula Maulers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Missoula Maulers has scored at the pace of 4.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Missoula Maulers got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Missoula Maulers also got points from Sam Sevcik, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Sawyer Jacobson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Wyatt Mathews, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Tyler Zandhuisen also scored for Missoula Maulers. In addition, Missoula Maulers received assists from Domantas Cypas, Tanner Todd, and Joey Porco, who each chipped in one and Damon Hanson, Matt Chamberlain, and Corey Schafer, who contributed two each.

Lake Tahoe Blue forced Missoula Maulers goalie Holmgren to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Lake Tahoe Blue was led by Nicholas Sprake, who scored the team's only goal. Sprake scored 4:05 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Nicholas Lang picked up the assist.

Missoula Maulers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Lake Tahoe Blue's Nick Bretzger stopped 49 shots out of the 56 that he faced. Lake Tahoe Blue incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
