Missoula Maulers rolls over Lake Tahoe Blue, 6-2

Missoula Maulers had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over Lake Tahoe Blue.

Missoula Maulers' penalty kill excelled, as Missoula Maulers gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Missoula Maulers was paced by Justin Barnes, who had one goal. Barnes scored 7:00 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Missoula Maulers. Evan Dorwart provided the assist.

Missoula Maulers stifled Lake Tahoe Blue's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Missoula Maulers forced Lake Tahoe Blue goalie Nick Bretzger to work between the pipes, taking 62 shots. Missoula Maulers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Missoula Maulers additionally got points from Sander Mjolnerod, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Sawyer Jacobson, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Damon Hanson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Missoula Maulers included Henrik Ekestahl and Edward Pollon, who scored one goal each. More assists for Missoula Maulers came via Sam Sevcik, who had two and Chris Laporte, Domantas Cypas, Dominic Rinaldi, Tanner Todd, Andrei Shebelbain, and Corey Schafer, who each chipped in one.

Lake Tahoe Blue could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lake Tahoe Blue was helped by Nicholas Lang, who racked up one goal. Lang scored short handed 16:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Missoula Maulers. A hooking call on Julian Davis put Lake Tahoe Blue on the penalty kill. Luke Erickson assisted on the tally. Sheamus Stoyle also scored for Lake Tahoe Blue. Other players who recorded assists for Lake Tahoe Blue were Connor Melton and Steven Colombo, who contributed one each.

Noah Parker rejected 19 shots on goal for Missoula Maulers. Missoula Maulers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Bretzger recorded 56 saves for Lake Tahoe Blue.
