Ontario Avalanche survives Las Vegas Storm comeback, wins 5-3

Las Vegas Storm tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Ontario Avalanche would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

A goal by Antoine Maillard put Ontario Avalanche up 5-2 in the third period, but Las Vegas Storm pulled to within two on Felix Brunner's tally 17:07 into the third period.

Ontario Avalanche got the win with help from a great game by Thurel Kast, who had two goals and one assist. Kast scored the first of his two goals at 8:23 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Michael Thomas provided the assist. Kast's next tally made the score 4-2 Ontario Avalanche with 19:44 left in the third period. Thomas picked up the assist.

Ontario Avalanche forced Las Vegas Storm goalie Patrik Jokela to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.

Ontario Avalanche additionally got points from Nick Anderson, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Thomas, who also finished with one goal and two assists. More assists for Ontario Avalanche came via Paul Ramsey, Coleton Dawson, Zechariah Roberts, and Jonathan Stuxberg, who each chipped in one.

Las Vegas Storm's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Ontario Avalanche power plays. Las Vegas Storm's offense rang up 33 shots on Ontario Avalanche's net.

Las Vegas Storm also had goals scored by Jiri Ryyppo and Beau Ricketts, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Las Vegas Storm were Kyle Pacheco and Philip Traxler, who contributed one each and Braxton Davis and Trevin Morgan, who each chipped in two.

Ontario Avalanche's Chris Skeates stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Ontario Avalanche incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Patrik Jokela made 40 saves for Las Vegas Storm on 45 shots. Las Vegas Storm incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
