Southern Oregon Spartans outlasts Lake Tahoe Blue, 3-2

Southern Oregon Spartans gutted out a close 3-2 win against Lake Tahoe Blue.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Johan Lovestrom's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Southern Oregon Spartans pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 29 penalty minutes.

Southern Oregon Spartans was led by Jonathon Lovelace, who registered one goal. Lovelace scored 13:47 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Southern Oregon Spartans. Zach Lovelace picked up the assist.

Southern Oregon Spartans' offense rang up 42 shots on Lake Tahoe Blue's net.

Southern Oregon Spartans also got points from Mackenzie Wood, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Lovestrom, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Southern Oregon Spartans came via Billy Saxton, Brody Surette, and Luke Fraser, who contributed one each.

Lake Tahoe Blue was helped by Alexander Lobachev, who racked up one goal. Lobachev scored 19:55 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Southern Oregon Spartans. Yanik Frisch provided the assist. Vladislav Polyashov also scored for Lake Tahoe Blue. In addition, Lake Tahoe Blue received assists from Wesley Callens, Julius Bauermeister, and David Raus, who each chipped in one.

Southern Oregon Spartans' Tymen Edelkoort III stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Southern Oregon Spartans registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For Southern Oregon Spartans, Denis Creighton was ejected from the game. Michael Cowell rejected 39 shots on goal for Lake Tahoe Blue. Lake Tahoe Blue totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play.
