Ricketts' big game bests Arizona Redhawks in 8-5 Las Vegas Storm win

Beau Ricketts had two goals and one assist to lead Las Vegas Storm to an 8-5 victory over Arizona Redhawks.

Ricketts' tallies came at 6:04 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Las Vegas Storm and on the power play 10:07 into the second to make the score 4-2 Las Vegas Storm.

Las Vegas Storm's penalty kill excelled, as Las Vegas Storm gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays.

Las Vegas Storm's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and three majors for 67 minutes in penalty time. Las Vegas Storm had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game. Las Vegas Storm forced Arizona Redhawks' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 36 shots and forcing 28 saves. Cole Andersen made 11 stops and Brenden Leise made 17. Las Vegas Storm surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Las Vegas Storm averages 3.8 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Las Vegas Storm also got points from Arrigo Burgener, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Nikita Larionov, who also had one goal and one assist, Vincent Dekumbis, who also registered one goal and one assist, Quinn Travis, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Nathan Fournier, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Las Vegas Storm included Kody Holmes and Nikita Tsvetov, who scored one goal each. In addition, Las Vegas Storm received assists from Alkhas Kochkarev, who had one.

Arizona Redhawks outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, Arizona Redhawks averages 1.8 goal per contest. Arizona Redhawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Arizona Redhawks was led by Alex Cerda, who finished with two goals. Cerda scored the first of his two goals at 2:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Las Vegas Storm. Wyatt Morgan picked up the assist. Cerda's next tally made the score 9-5 Las Vegas Storm with 41 seconds left in the third period. Brian McDonald assisted on the tally. Arizona Redhawks additionally got points from McDonald, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Arizona Redhawks also had goals scored by Colin Salotti and Gustav Parson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Arizona Redhawks were Anton Haga Loof, Cameron Fields, and Hayden Miller, who contributed one each.

Patrik Jokela rejected 22 shots on goal for Las Vegas Storm. Las Vegas Storm registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. For Las Vegas Storm, Tsvetov was ejected from the game.
