Fresno Monsters squeaks by Valencia Flyers, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Fresno Monsters escaped with a 4-2 victory over Valencia Flyers.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Evan Ingram secured the win for Fresno Monsters with a goal in the third period.

Fresno Monsters was sparked by Ingram, who registered one goal. Ingram scored on the power play 17:10 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Fresno Monsters. Fresno Monsters had taken the advantage when Valencia Flyers' Tyler Lazarek got sent off for holding. Parker Olson provided the assist.

Fresno Monsters put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Valencia Flyers to score on any of its three power plays. Fresno Monsters' offense operated below its season average. Fresno Monsters averages 7.0 goals per game. Valencia Flyers was unable to stop Fresno Monsters from sending pucks towards the net, and Fresno Monsters eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Fresno Monsters additionally got points from Olson, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Fresno Monsters included Austin Browning and Patrick Meier, who each put in one. In addition, Fresno Monsters received assists from Brantt Heble, Kyle Jelinski, and Jonathan Bengtsson, who each chipped in one.

Valencia Flyers could not produce up to its normal offensive output. Valencia Flyers puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. Valencia Flyers kept Fresno Monsters' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nathan Churchill made 33 saves on 35 shots. Valencia Flyers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Valencia Flyers finished with 40 penalty minutes.

Valencia Flyers was helped by Blake Aguilar, who racked up one goal. Aguilar scored 15:48 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jakob Kranabetter picked up the assist. Wil Barnett also scored for Valencia Flyers. More assists for Valencia Flyers came via Chase Thesman, who had one.

Fresno Monsters incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Valencia Flyers' Silvan Delb stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced.
