Jacobson lifts Missoula Maulers over Whitefish Wolverines, 5-1

Sawyer Jacobson had two goals to lead Missoula Maulers to a 5-1 victory over Whitefish Wolverines.

Jacobson's tallies came at 3:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missoula Maulers and on the power play 1:07 into the second to make the score 2-1 Missoula Maulers.

Missoula Maulers forced Whitefish Wolverines' netminders to work between the pipes, firing 39 shots and forcing 34 saves. Brendan Schultz made 15 stops and Brendan Duff made 19.

Missoula Maulers also got a goal from Damon Hanson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Missoula Maulers were Austin Azzinnaro, who had three and Chris Laporte, Sander Mjolnerod, Alex Shalamov, Tanner Todd, Andrei Shebelbain, Tyler Lodin, and Corey Schafer, who each chipped in one.

Whitefish Wolverines was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game Whitefish Wolverines had been spending in the box.

Whitefish Wolverines was led by Tyler Latimer, who scored the team's only goal. Latimer scored on the power play 9:14 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Whitefish Wolverines had gotten the advantage when Missoula Maulers' Schafer was sent off for tripping. Frank DeHoff assisted on the tally.

Missoula Maulers' Aron Holmgren stopped 17 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Missoula Maulers totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. Whitefish Wolverines registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
