Shalamov leads Missoula Maulers over Lake Tahoe Blue, 9-4

Behind a great game by Alex Shalamov, who had two goals and two assists, Missoula Maulers defeated Lake Tahoe Blue, 9-4.

Shalamov scored on the power play at 5:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missoula Maulers and again while 16:48 into the second to make the score 5-3 Missoula Maulers.

Lake Tahoe Blue's 10 penalties came back to haunt it, as Lake Tahoe Blue let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Missoula Maulers kept Lake Tahoe Blue's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nick Bretzger made 44 saves on 53 shots. Missoula Maulers outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, Missoula Maulers averages 3.9 goals per contest.

Missoula Maulers also got points from Matt Chamberlain, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Edward Pollon, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Missoula Maulers included Sam Sevcik and Damon Hanson, who each put in two. Other players who recorded assists for Missoula Maulers were Austin Azzinnaro, who had two, Corey Schafer, who had three, and Vladislav Zamzhytski, Sawyer Jacobson, Wyatt Mathews, Henrik Ekestahl, Joey Porco, and Tyler Lodin, who each chipped in one.

Lake Tahoe Blue was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 30 penalty minutes.

Lake Tahoe Blue was helped by Kristers Seps, who registered two goals. Seps scored the first of his two goals at 2:47 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Missoula Maulers. Vladislav Polyashov picked up the assist. Seps' next tally made the score 3-3 with 11:51 left in the second period. Lake Tahoe Blue earned a power play opportunity when Schafer was put in the box for interference. Brandon Aab provided the assist. Lake Tahoe Blue additionally got points from Polyashov, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Aksel Friberg also scored for Lake Tahoe Blue. More assists for Lake Tahoe Blue came via Julius Bauermeister, who had two and David Raus and Hunter Lovdokken, who contributed one each.

Aron Holmgren recorded 22 saves for Missoula Maulers. Missoula Maulers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Lake Tahoe Blue registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
