Ontario Avalanche squeaks by San Diego Gulls, 4-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Ontario Avalanche escaped with a 4-3 victory over San Diego Gulls.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Spencer McHaffie at 19:27 of the second period.

McHaffie was all over the ice for Ontario Avalanche, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win.

Ontario Avalanche's offense operated below its season average. Ontario Avalanche puts an average of 6.5 pucks into the net per game. Ontario Avalanche forced San Diego Gulls goalie Ilya Alyakin to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. San Diego Gulls also got points from Cameron Todd, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Sebastian Gruhler also scored for San Diego Gulls. More assists for San Diego Gulls came via Joel Gellvear, Ilya Sakhibgareev, and Kastle Birch, who contributed one each.

Chris Skeates recorded 32 saves for Ontario Avalanche. Ontario Avalanche incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. San Diego Gulls' Alyakin stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. San Diego Gulls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
