Mencer nets hat trick, leads Ogden Mustangs to 4-2 win over Colorado Evolution

Colorado Evolution could not stop Ogden Mustangs' Jon Mencer, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-2 win.

Mencer's first goal came 6:52 into the second period. He then added goals at 17:46 into the second and at 6:25 into the third.

Ogden Mustangs pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Ogden Mustangs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Colorado Evolution to score on any of its seven power plays. Ogden Mustangs' offense rang up 47 shots on Colorado Evolution's net.

Ogden Mustangs also got points from Schuyler Seyfert, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Ogden Mustangs came via David Clements, Andreas Zollner, and Corey Iapalucci, who each chipped in one.

Colorado Evolution's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Ogden Mustangs power plays.

Troy Turpin made 18 saves for Ogden Mustangs on 20 shots. Sergii Pysarenko recorded 43 saves for Colorado Evolution. Colorado Evolution incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
