Missoula Maulers beats Butte Cobras 4-2 after comeback scareGlacier Ice Rink Fri, Oct 03, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Butte Cobras tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Missoula Maulers held on for a 4-2 victory. A goal by Corey Schafer put Missoula Maulers up 4-1 in the third period, but Butte Cobras pulled to within two on Brandon Hanser's tally 18:24 into the third period. Missoula Maulers' penalty kill excelled, as Missoula Maulers gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays. Missoula Maulers stifled Butte Cobras' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Butte Cobras was unable to stop Missoula Maulers from sending pucks towards the net, and Missoula Maulers eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Missoula Maulers was helped by Dominic Rinaldi, who finished with one goal. Rinaldi scored 4:02 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Missoula Maulers. Edward Pollon assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Missoula Maulers included Alex Shalamov and Joey Porco, who scored one goal each. In addition, Missoula Maulers received assists from Tanner Todd, who had two and Sawyer Jacobson, Henrik Ekestahl, and Matt Chamberlain, who each chipped in one. Butte Cobras was led by Anton Bokull, who had one goal and one assist. Bokull scored 6:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Butte Cobras. Anton Zimmer picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Butte Cobras were Kevin Philbin, who had one. Aron Holmgren recorded 26 saves for Missoula Maulers. Missoula Maulers totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Butte Cobras' Reed Kinsey stopped 35 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Butte Cobras incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
