Missoula Maulers pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over Southern Oregon Spartans on a clutch goal by Corey Schafer. Missoula Maulers came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Missoula Maulers fell behind 3-1 after a power play goal by Southern Oregon Spartans' Drew Carriere at 5:01 in the second period. Missoula Maulers knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Andrei Shebelbain at 17:33 in the third period. Schafer was all over the ice for Missoula Maulers, as he finished with two goals in the win. Schafer found the back of the net 6:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missoula Maulers and again while 3:28 into the fifth to make the score 4-3 Missoula Maulers. Missoula Maulers kept Southern Oregon Spartans' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tymen Edelkoort III made 33 saves on 37 shots. Missoula Maulers also got a goal from Matt Chamberlain as well. More assists for Missoula Maulers came via Austin Azzinnaro, who had two and Sawyer Jacobson, Dominic Rinaldi, Tanner Todd, Joey Porco, Tyler Lodin, and Aron Holmgren, who each chipped in one. Southern Oregon Spartans excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Southern Oregon Spartans forced Missoula Maulers goalie Holmgren to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Southern Oregon Spartans was led by Jonathon Lovelace, who registered two goals. Lovelace scored the first of his two goals short handed at 10:55 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Southern Oregon Spartans was on a disadvantage when Brody Surette went off the ice for roughing. Doug Gutierrez provided the assist. Lovelace's next tally short handed made the score 2-1 Southern Oregon Spartans with 2:54 left in the first period. Gutierrez assisted on the tally. Southern Oregon Spartans totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
