Stratford survives Waterloo comeback, wins 3-2

The Stratford Cullitons survived a determined comeback attempt by the Waterloo Siskins on the way to a 3-2 win.

Stratford made the score 3-1 on a goal by Drew Gross at 19:16 in the second period, and Waterloo got as close as 3-2 when Danny Hanlon scored 16:47 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 2-3 in the best of seven series, the Siskins face elimination next time out.

The Cullitons' penalty kill excelled, as Stratford gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Cullitons capitalized on Waterloo's penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage.

Stratford also got points from Trevor Sauder, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Deven Kropf also scored for Stratford. More assists for Stratford came via Jake Pleon and Jordan Currie, who each chipped in one.

The Siskins kept Stratford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nicholas Caldwell made 30 saves on 32 shots.

Waterloo additionally got points from Christian Mroczkowski, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Eric Cimino and Matthew Mah, who contributed one each.

The Cullitons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Leo Lazarev rejected 26 shots on goal for Waterloo. The Siskins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
