Waterloo outlasts Stratford, 4-2

The Waterloo Siskins and the Stratford Cullitons were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Waterloo made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Christian Mroczkowski's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Stratford faces elimination next time out.

The Siskins were sparked by Mroczkowski, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Mroczkowski scored 18:45 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Waterloo.

The Cullitons were unable to stop Waterloo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Siskins eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Waterloo also got points from Matt Schieck, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Waterloo also had goals scored by Matt Martin and Logan Stanley AP, who each put in one. More assists for Waterloo came via Danny Hanlon, who had two and Connor Bodnar and Andrew Brubacher, who each chipped in one.

Stratford put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Waterloo to score on any of its three power plays. The Cullitons kept the Siskins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Leo Lazarev made 45 saves on 47 shots.

Stratford was helped by Trevor Sauder, who registered one goal. Sauder scored 5:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Waterloo. Mitch Brooks provided the assist. Stratford additionally got points from Jordan Currie, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Shane O Brien and Ryker Killins, who contributed one each.

Waterloo incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Nicholas Caldwell rejected 27 shots on goal for the Cullitons. Stratford incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
